There are many reasons why you might consider participating in the All About Money® program.
  • Unbiased “generic” education – i.e. no ulterior motive to sell financial products or services.

  • All educational material is written by a Certified Financial Planner® with 20 years experience who is also an approved continuing education provider with the CFP Board of Standards.

  • Professionals with a master’s degree in instructional design engineered the overall program.

  • You learn concepts in a logical sequence – i.e. All About Money® “connects the dots” so you gain an understanding of how financial concepts are interrelated, which helps bring clarity and confidence to financial decisions.

  • Educational content is delivered in “courseware” format via the Internet.  It is rich with interactive multimedia, graphics and animations, and instruction is supported entirely by voiceover narration.  Video role-play is used where appropriate.

  • Attorneys, industry regulators, compliance officers, and professional experts have reviewed the content for both accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

  • Comprehensive “generic” financial education is combined with optional comprehensive financial planning services that are “specific” to each your personal situation.
Comprehensive Financial Plans
  • If you choose to enter your personal information into our confidential database, you can create your own comprehensive financial plan – or – print a summary document from which any skilled advisor can create a plan for you. Click here to view a sample plan.

  • When you take the time to gather the necessary information and enter it in our online database, you’ll never have to do it again!  From that point forward, you control your personal financial information rather than an advisor or financial institution.

  • Your information is available only to you whenever you want to access it, even if All About Money® was provided as an employee benefit and you leave your current job.

  • Our comprehensive plans are unbiased – i.e. there is no ulterior motive to sell financial products or services.

  • Comprehensive financial plans are designed not only to identify current problems, funding shortfalls, risks, etc. but also potential issues that might arise in the future.  Once identified, the plans provide recommendations as to how to rectify the issues.

  • Unlike a goal-specific plan such as college funding or retirement, a comprehensive plan is integrated, which means it addresses a multitude of financial goals and contains analytical results that show how one financial decision would affect another.

  • The financial plans are highly tailored to your resources and goals, and demonstrate the logic and thoroughness behind the recommendations.

  • Recommendations take into account all areas of analysis:

    • Net Worth
    • Cash Flow - Income and Expenditures
    • Income Taxes
    • Investment Risk Tolerance and Asset Allocation
    • Debt Management
    • Risk Management: Life, Disability, and Long-Term Care Insurance
    • Education Financing
    • Financial Goals Roadmap
    • Retirement Planning
    • Estate Planning

  • Lumen Systems Inc. developed the software used to create the financial plans.  Established in 1982, the company is now a dominant provider of financial planning software in the marketplace.

  • Lumen System’s staff includes expert software developers, a skilled technical support team, a knowledgeable and responsive customer services department, and a management team with over 40 years of combined experience in the financial planning arena.

  • Lumen Systems Inc. makes a 1-800 number available for questions you might have about entering information into our confidential database or recommendations in your financial plan.

  • Neither Lumen Systems Inc. nor Planning Matters Inc. is licensed to sell or provide advice about specific financial products or services that could be used to implement recommendations in a financial plan.  We are completely unbiased.
Financial Advice
  • Few people understand that financial plans do NOT provide advice about SPECIFIC financial products or services.
  • You must therefore learn to evaluate and determine which financial products and services are most appropriate for your particular situation and/or rely upon the professional expertise of licensed and regulated advisors.

  • All About Money® not only teaches you how to compare and contrast financial products and services, but also how to evaluate, select and monitor the performance of various types of financial advisors including insurance agents, investment advisors, bankers, accountants, and attorneys.

  • With this knowledge, you can implement the recommendations in your financial plan through any financial advisor employed by any financial institution or by purchasing financial products and services via the Web in a self-directed manner.
